Top 100 Songs of 2019: The Year-End Chart

“Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus was the biggest hit of 2019, finishing at No. 1 on the year-end Top 100 ahead of “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee and “Without Me” by Halsey. The year-end chart ranks the songs that performed best across the whole year, not just in a single week.

22 acts placed more than one song on the list, led by Post Malone (4), Ariana Grande (4), Billie Eilish (3), Lil Baby (3), Dan + Shay (3). 11 of the 100 were holdovers from the 2018 list, so 89 songs were new to the year-end chart.

The 2010s: the sound of the era

Streaming changed the charts in the 2010s. On-demand streams began counting toward the pop chart in 2012, and the year-end lists filled with EDM-flavored pop, trap-influenced hip-hop and long-running smashes that stayed on the chart for most of a year.
