Top 100 Songs of 2014: The Year-End Chart

“Happy” by Pharrell Williams was the biggest hit of 2014, finishing at No. 1 on the year-end Top 100 ahead of “Dark Horse” by Katy Perry and “All Of Me” by John Legend. The year-end chart ranks the songs that performed best across the whole year, not just in a single week.

18 acts placed more than one song on the list, led by Katy Perry (3), Jason Derulo (3), Ariana Grande (3), Iggy Azalea (2), OneRepublic (2). 11 of the 100 were holdovers from the 2013 list, so 89 songs were new to the year-end chart.

The 2010s: the sound of the era

Streaming changed the charts in the 2010s. On-demand streams began counting toward the pop chart in 2012, and the year-end lists filled with EDM-flavored pop, trap-influenced hip-hop and long-running smashes that stayed on the chart for most of a year.
