Top 100 Songs of 2017: The Year-End Chart

“Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran was the biggest hit of 2017, finishing at No. 1 on the year-end Top 100 ahead of “Despacito (Remix)” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee and “That's What I Like” by Bruno Mars. The year-end chart ranks the songs that performed best across the whole year, not just in a single week.

19 acts placed more than one song on the list, led by Kendrick Lamar (3), The Chainsmokers (3), Migos (3), Shawn Mendes (3), Maroon 5 (3). 9 of the 100 were holdovers from the 2016 list, so 91 songs were new to the year-end chart.

The 2010s: the sound of the era

Streaming changed the charts in the 2010s. On-demand streams began counting toward the pop chart in 2012, and the year-end lists filled with EDM-flavored pop, trap-influenced hip-hop and long-running smashes that stayed on the chart for most of a year.
